What is included in a Quester Treasure Hunt?
A Quester Treasure Hunt includes: An audio story told by the Quester Twins, a written script, 4 themed blank clue cards, paper cut-out prizes of badge/mask/puzzle and treasure, full instructions and tips, ‘Q’ checklist sheet, themed treasure sign, themed party invitations, 3 Extra script sections with extra paper cut-out prizes.
Do you need to buy anything else?
No. Everything you need is provided.
Do I have to use the paper cut-out prizes?
No. Paper items with the exception of the badge and jigsaw puzzle can be easily replaced by party supplies such as masks. On the treasure hunt pages of this website themed items from Partybox recommended for that treasure hunt are shown. The treasure can be added to with any prizes or treats you choose.
What age group are Quester Treasure Hunts for?
Quester Treasure Hunts are aimed mainly at 5-9 year olds. However the Quester Treasure Hunt stories can be used for older or younger players by increasing/decreasing the difficulty of the hiding places and clues. It is also possible to play the game with a range of age groups. Simply send them to different areas to hunt for simpler/more challenging hiding places and clues.
How many people can play a Quester Treasure Hunt?
Normally Quester Treasure Hunts are played by a typical party group of 10-15 players. However you can play with as little as two players and are not limited by a maximum number other than what is safe and practical to do.

Quester Treasure Hunts can be played indoors or outdoors.
How long does it take to play a Quester Treasure Hunt?
In a party situation a Quester Treasure Hunt normally takes around 30 minutes. If you want to play around the house with a few players the games takes around 20 minutes. Quester Treasure Hunts are very flexible and you are able to influence whether to make them shorter or longer by choosing the difficulty of hiding places, the number of players, the area across which players have to hunt, the difficulty of clues and whether to add in extra games.
Can you extend a Quester Treasure Hunt?
Quester Treasure Hunts come with 3 standard Extra sections which will each take around 5 minutes to play. Quester Treasure Hunts are very flexible and you can add any other games or fun as you wish. Simple pause the Quester Story and carry it on later.
How long does it take to prepare and set up the game?
As a rule of thumb if you want to use all the paper prizes it will take about 30 minutes to cut them out. To write the clues and hide clues, Quester kit, puzzle and treasure, add another 20 to 30 minutes.
How can I reduce preparation time?
The most time-consuming paper prize to cut out is the masks. To reduce the organiser’s time, make the cutting out and creation of masks part of the treasure hunt or purchase themed masks from Partybox on the treasure hunts pages of this website.
Is it difficult to set up a Quester Treasure Hunt?
No. Quester Treasure Hunts are quick and easy to set up. For the ‘Print & Play’ option there are 4 simple steps:
- Print out and cut out the items you need.
- Write clues to the location of the treasure across 4 clue cards.
- Hide all prizes and clues.
- Copy the treasure hunt audio story mp3 files to cd / mp3 player, or play direct from your computer.
For the post option you will receive the items already printed and the Audio story on CD
How do you play a Quester Treasure Hunt?
Play the Audio Story (or read the story out) section by section. At the end of each section players search for the clue or prize which leads them towards discovering the location of the treasure.
Do I have to use the Quester Treasure Hunt Audio Story?
No. A story script is provided with each Quester Treasure Hunt which you can read out yourself if you prefer.
Do I have to have a colour printer?
For the ‘Print & Play’ option all the items can be printed in black and white although we recommend colour printing. Clue Cards for the Fairy and Rainbow treasure hunts need to be printed in colour. If you would rather not print yourself, select the ‘Post’ option and we’ll send you all you need.
What format do ‘Print & Play’ Quester Treasure Hunts come in?
You will receive a zip file containing 8 mp3 files which make up the Audio Story and 3 pdf files containing instructions, game elements and extras.
